i honestly think this study is fantastic and horrible at the same time. spending all that time in a cage never living a real life, but on the other had were getting the chance to learn something new, how human babies look for comfort and secruity from their mother, just as the monkey did the cloth doll. as we know human children and monkeys when thye grow up they are not dependant on their mother for comfort and security, they grow out of it, just as humans do

Easter Holiday comes early to the shining STARS

At St. Mary's, the easter bunny
hopped around the gym. We got to
play games involving Easter.
My game involved running and
hiding, with a little bit
of tagging. It was a capture
the EGG game, with mats set
up, to hid behind. At the end of
the day we got to take a picture
infront of a poster that was
made for the STARS!!! I feel better
about my games and that the kids
are starting to like how creative
we are getting with out themes.

THIS IS A NEED TO KNOW

Each year we have new issues concerning the daily lives of our children and students. The the main issues that we should all be concerned about are; childhood obesity and how rapidly the percent of children are becoming more and more obese. The In-school and community violence among youths have also alarmed us all, and the fact that early puderty has important psychosocial ramifications. As teachers we should also have goals for our students, to make sure that they are making the right movements when asked to, and to make sure that their physical activity and fitness has been enhanced throught the time period you get them for.

Their are three factors that explain the relationships that lead to the development of the whole child, biology of the individual, conditions of the learning environment, and the requirements of the movement task. As teachers we need to understand the child, and to know the individual appropriateness and the group appropriateness. Individual appropriateness is based on the central proposition that each child has his/her unique timing and pattern of growth and development. the movement activities children preform are based on there physical education programs to generate better motor and movement skills. Group appropriateness is influenced by grade level and age, it ranges from general to specific movements. Each child is different and is at their own level , when we understand these two concepts it will be easier to connect and understand what each child needs and then we can focus on those who need it in group activities.

To create a good lesson plan, you need to incorporate the fundamental movement skills; locomotion, and manipulation movement skills. Some of the locomotor movements are; walking, running, leaping, jumping, and hopping. Some of the Manipulation skills are; kicking, throwing, striking, volleying, and bouncing. it's not just thoes we have to consider, we need to think about the patterns of stability, axial and static/dynamic. Axial would consider; bending, stretching, twisting, turning, and swinging. Static/dynamic would be; rolling, starting, stopping, and dodging.

Physical Education is defined as a combination of health and performance, and we need to keep in the back of our minds when prepairing for a lesson plan, that all of these standards and movements need to be considered.

St. Marys takes the GOLD!!!

The olympics came to St. Marys gym this week where everyone was a winner. We had the cnahce to compete for the chance to take the gold, and leave thoes other countries behind!! We played great games this week that involved us going for the gold! we also had the chance to observe two specific kids in the class to figure out what kinds of motor movements were being preformed, and if they were meeting the required standard for each group. next week we get to go to the lost world and visit back in time with the dinosaurs!
